Lego robot legs walk like a human

Jun 8, 2010 |
views

I love how this Mindstorms robot is able to emulate a real human gait rather than having the slow shuffle that most walking robots feature. Of course it is held up with strings, but it shows the potential of the (toy) technology.

This video was created as part of our project in the Department of Biomechanics at the FSU Jena. Shown is the walking robot "Pinocchio". The project pursued the aim to imitate the human walking kinematically.

Paralleling the design of earlier cases for the iPod and iPhone, Marware's new Eco-Flip ($45) is a vertically-opening flip-style case for the iPad that's made from leather tanned in an environmentally sound process. It parallels the company's Eco-Vue by offering an elastic hand strap, a foldaway display stand, the ability for the front cover to be used as a stand, and an elastic closure strap; it's similarly offered only in black at this time....

The Make: Electronics Components Pack 2 is the second companion pack to our wildly popular Make: Electronics book. It covers the experiments from Chapters 3 & 4. We've spent hours sourcing these (sometimes very) hard to find parts! This pack continues where Components Pack 1 left off and delves into integrated circuits, digital electronics and soldering skills. All parts are spec'd directly from the book and author Charles Platt.

Anyone want to make something out of a box of junk? I hope mine comes with the pink flower thing.

Have you ever been tempted by one of those grab bags of random 'tronics components that hobby stores offer? Ithaca, NY hackerspace Ithacka has suggested a challenge where you get one of those bags and turn it into a project!

The challenge calls for buying a $10 BOJ from American Science and Surplus and doing something cool with it. See the rules for more information.
