Paintings by Sohan Qadri Title: Hevajara Tantra Qadri begins his process by bathing paper in acid-free water and once it is swollen with liquid, he rhythmically scores the surface and applies inks and dyes. He uses a thick intaglio paper, which he carves in stages to achieve a sculptural effect. The repetition of these careful incisions is an integral part of his meditation. In the Burn to Shine DVD series, filmmakers Brendan Canty (formerly of Fugazi) and Christoph Green take over a house that's about to be destroyed, taping local bands playing in the space, and then filming the house being destroyed. Burn to Shine volumes have previously been released featuring locations in Washington, D.C., Chicago, Portland, and Seattle.

Now they're gearing up for the release of Burn to Shine 04: Louisville, actually filmed nearly five years ago. Artists featured on the DVD include Will Oldham, Magik Markers, Shipping News, and Dead Child.

The film will premiere May 22 at the Kentucky Center for the Arts. The screening will serve as a benefit for Rodan/Rachel's/Shipping News musician Jason Noble (pictured), who is currently undergoing treatments for cancer.

The screening will feature performances by Bonnie "Prince" Billy & the Cairo Gang, Rachel Grimes, and Liberation Prophecy. Canty and Lucky Pineapple's William Benton, who curated the music on the DVD, will hold a Q&A after the screening.
